Transport and Logistics
Investing in the future: Diesel Engines
We are always on the lookout for ways of being more cost and environmentally efficient. Our latest vehicles conform to the highest standards set by the EU. Boasting the advanced 4-cylinder CDI, the Sprinter sets new standards of economic efficiency and sustainability. All diesel engines comply with the Euro V emissions and feature significantly reduced fuel consumption and exhaust emissions compared with previous engine generations.
Vehicles for the future
We have an ongoing project, improving our fleet, to exceed all the latest EU requirements. These include fitted speed limiters, the 7.5ton vehicles that service London having stop start technology as standard and using the latest tyre technology on all our vehicles. Providing for longer life and giving higher return on vehicle fuel economy.
Delivery routes
Robert Lee are continuously reviewing our delivery routes, both internally and with our customers, and by having dedicated delivery days we are able to reduce the amount of deliveries we make, in some cases from daily to once or twice a week.
Warehouse forklifts are electric with zero emissions
All forklifts are powered by electricity generated from the solar panels on the Robert Lee warehouse roof.
Packaging & Recycling
Manufacturer’s packing is reused to dispatch goods out
To reduce waste we actively reuse all boxes supplied by our suppliers.
Pallets returned to suppliers for reuse
All our wooden pallets are returned to our suppliers for reuse or put back into the pallet system
Office paper waste is recycled
We recycle all our waste paper and cardboard weekly. The waste collection service we use, sort the waste on their site to reduce the amount going to land fill.
Robert Lee Distribution London depot powered by the sun
The Robert Lee head office in London has been fitted with over 200 solar panels that not only provide electricity for the warehouse and offices, but also supplies excess energy back into the National Grid.
Lighting
Where possible warehouse lighting has been improved, using the latest technology so that the lights come on automatically only when using certain areas within the building. And at our main warehouse in London we changed all of our lower ground lighting to the latest more efficient lighting units.
